• Menopause Menopause is the time when your menstrual periods stop permanently and you can no longer get pregnant. Some people call the time leading up to a woman’s last period menopause. This time actually is the transition to menopause, or perimenopause. After menopause, your body makes much less of the hormones estrogen and progesterone.
• Adolescence Adolescence is the period of transition between childhood and adulthood. It includes some big changes — to the body, and to the way a young person relates to the world.
• Disorders like Tumours of Ovaries & Uterus Vaginal bleeding and discharge are a normal part of your menstrual cycle prior to menopause. However, if you notice anything different or unusual, consult your physician before attempting to treat the problem yourself. Symptoms may result from mild infections that are easy to treat. But, if they are not treated properly, they can lead to more serious conditions.
• Menstrual Problems Menstrual cycles often bring about a variety of uncomfortable symptoms leading up to your period. Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) encompasses the most common issues, such as mild cramping and fatigue. However, other, more serious menstrual problems may also occur. Menstruation that is too heavy or too light, or the complete absence of a cycle, may suggest that there are other issues that are contributing to an abnormal menstrual cycle.
• Perimenopause & Post Menopause Perimenopause can begin eight to 10 years before menopause, when the ovaries gradually produce less estrogen. At this stage, many women can experience menopause symptoms. Women are still having menstrual cycles during this time, and can get pregnant. Postmenopause. These are the years after menopause. During this stage, menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, can ease for many women. But, as a result of a lower level of estrogen, postmenopausal women are at increased risk for a number of health conditions
• Ectopic Pregnancy Ectopic pregnancy is a complication of pregnancy in which the embryo attaches outside the uterus. Signs and symptoms classically include abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding. Fewer than 50 percent of affected women have both of these symptoms. The pain may be described as sharp, dull, or crampy.

A high-risk pregnancy is one that threatens the health or life of the mother or her fetus. It often requires specialized care from specially trained providers.

Some pregnancies become high risk as they progress, while some women are at increased risk for complications even before they get pregnant for a variety of reasons.

Early and regular prenatal care helps many women have healthy pregnancies and deliveries without complications. Risk factors for a high-risk pregnancy can include:

• Existing health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or being HIV-positive.
• Overweight and Obesity Obesity increases the risk for high blood pressure, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, stillbirth, neural tube defects, and cesarean delivery. Researchers have found that obesity can raise infants' risk of heart problems at birth by 15%.
• Multiple Births The risk of complications is higher in women carrying more than one fetus (twins and higher-order multiples). Common complications include preeclampsia, premature labor, and preterm birth. More than one-half of all twins and as many as 93% of triplets are born at less than 37 weeks' gestation.
• Young or Old Maternal Age Pregnancy in teens and women age 35 or older increases the risk for preeclampsia and gestational high blood pressure.

Neonatal means ‘new born’. Neonatal units like ours specialise in the care of babies born early, with low weight or who have a medical condition that requires specialised treatment.

Within the unit, there are four different levels of care:

• Intensive Care provided for babies who have serious problems, who are very premature (those born more than three months early) and/or have an extremely low birth weight (birth weight less than 1500 grams).
• High Dependency Care provided for babies with less serious problems but who still need a great deal of observation and support and for those who are recovering from critical illness.
• Low Dependency provided for babies who do not require continuous observation and/or who are stable and growing.
• Transitional Care is provided for babies who need some medical treatment but who are well enough to be cared for at their mother’s bedside.

Ultrasound (also called sonogram) is a prenatal test offered to most pregnant women. It uses sound waves to show a picture of your baby in the uterus (womb). Ultrasound helps your health care provider check on your baby’s health and development.

A pregnancy ultrasound is a test that uses high-frequency sound waves to image the developing baby as well as the mother’s reproductive organs. The average number of ultrasounds varies with each pregnancy.

An ultrasound, also called a sonogram, can help monitor normal fetal development and screen for any potential problems. Along with a standard ultrasound, there are a number of more advanced ultrasounds - including a 3-D ultrasound, a 4-D ultrasound, and a fetal echocardiography, which is an ultrasound that looks in detail at the fetus’ heart.

Reasons for having an ultrasound are:

• To confirm (make sure) you’re pregnant
• To check your baby’s heartbeat, muscle tone, movement and overall development
• To check your baby’s age and growth.
• To check to see if you’re pregnant with twins or triplets
• To help with other prenatal tests
• To examine your ovaries and uterus (womb). Ovaries are where eggs are stored in your body.
• To check for pregnancy complications, including ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy and miscarriage.

Labour Delivery Rooms are a result of careful thought and consideration. Labour Delivery Rooms successfully amalgamate labour, delivery and recovery facilities, ensuring that mothers don’t suffer from the discomfort of being moved between labour and pre/post-operative recovery bay. These are designed with soft, soothing colours and equipped with multi-positioning beds that adjust to accommodate a variety of birthing positions.

You can also customise the ambience with a selection of your favourite music tracks, to further heighten a sense of peace and calm. These are designed to ensure absolute privacy, and are fully equipped with all medical facilities necessary for a normal delivery. These are also located close to the operation theatres in the event that the mother or baby may need additional care.

Labour rooms is one of its kind with well equipped with electronically operated hydraulic beds, fetal heart monitoring machines connected with central monitor, pulse oxymeter, neonatal resuscitation facility. During entire labour, irrespective of admission category, patient is managed in single fully airconditioned labour suite in which one attendant is allowed by the side of the patient. There is one to one patient, sister nursing care facility & a consultant gynecologist is present round the clock on duty.

A C-section may be planned or can even be an emergency, depending on when the condition requiring surgery presents itself. Whatever be the reason, it is always reassuring to know that the operation theatre (OT) where the surgery will be performed meets the highest standards of quality and is well equipped.

Our state-of-the-art OTs (outsourced) are equipped with all ultramodern facilities to handle even the most complex pregnancy and gynaecological cases. Specially designed operating tables, advanced anaesthesia workstations and monitoring and advanced medical equipment help us ensure that you and your newborn baby are always in safe hands. Our OTs are fitted with laminar air flow and HEPA filters to provide the most sterile environment.
